about

Laissez les bons temps rouler! (2012)
A four-movement work for solo soprano or tenor saxophone and chamber orchestra that was premiered by Branford Marsalis, and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Clark Rundell, on July 10th 2012, Younger Hall, St Andrews, Scotland, as part of the World Saxophone Congress XVI. Funded by Creative Scotland & UniStage.

In 2017 I revised this work, creating a solo saxophone part that is fully notated (previously parts had been improvised). Special thanks to Claude Delangle who I worked in conjunction with in this process and who premiered the revised version of Laissez les bons temps rouler! at EurSax, Porto in 2017.

1. From a Distance…
An intense and unrelenting work that was written in response to the devasting effect that Hurricane Katrina had on New Orleans, a city respected and admired worldwide for its musical diversity and passion.
