about

MHP (2007)
Commissioned by Mike Hall and scored for tenor saxophone, strings and percussion, MHP was premiered by Mike Hall, the Royal Northern College of Music strings & Charles Ashby, conducted by Clark Rundell at the RNCM on 1st May 2007.

A high energy romp as equally influenced by Bulgarian folk music as by Michael Brecker, MHP is a virtuosic journey through a highly rhythmic landscape.

The tenor saxophone and piano version was premiered by Andy Scott & Adam Caird in November 2008, with the alto saxophone and piano version being recorded and premiered by the Grammy Award winning saxophonist Tim McAllister and pianist Liz Ames in February 2018.

This is a world premiere recording of the tenor saxophone & piano version of MHP.
